Well, Ben Smith posted this about the Virginia electorate...it wasn't the same one Obama won with. Virginia went back to its traditional conservative roots. Deeds was just a bad candidate who ran a bad campaign. But I find it hard to say 2 governor races mean people aren't behind Obama.

"This electorate was older than in 2008. In 2008, young voters were 21% of the electorate, exit polls show that just 10% of voters in Virginia today were under age 30.

In 2008, 20% of Virginia’s voters were African-American, compared with 15% today.

In 2008, Obama edged out McCain among independents by 49% to 48%. Today, exit poll show only 37% of independents backing Deeds."

I do wonder if these results--primarily the mcdonnell and christie wins--will ultimately light a fire under Democrats in congress to get their shit together. If they don't pass healthcare, they will be looking at a scary 2010. So, maybe a little fear will whip them into shape.

I hate to think owens will win, because it's still not over. Not surprised by VA, or NJ for that matter. But, the fact that Christie only won by 5 says a lot, considering how far Corzine was down. What happened to the wind in the sails of Daggett?
