keep on bitching about how he's holding the mop to clean up the last administration's shit. I, too, am frustrated in the rate of 'change', but it's been ONE YEAR. The thing I'm MOST disappointed in is that Obama isn't the liberal I had hoped he'd be.

Obama and the Democrats should be grateful to Beck, Palin, Limbaugh and the tea-partiers. Having failed to deliver any real change, the only thing they had going for them yesterday to get out Democratic voters was antipathy to the right wing nuts. NY-23 was a big gift to the Democrats, for sure, and not just that they won the seat.

Think of it -
(1) the stimulus money didn't go to create real jobs; it went to prop up state and local government-paid jobs.
(2) We're not out of Iraq and Obama is sending more troops to Afghanistan and the voters are against that.
(3) He caved on Israel stopping settlements.
(4) He wants to protect Bush & Co from being investigated or prosecuted for torture, authorizing torture, lies to get us into war.
(5) Healthcare is a big, big dither and people cannot understand why thats not done yet.
(6) He hasn't taken on the banks/financial industry effectively and they could do it all over again. Where are the prosecutions? There were loads of crimes committed to inflate those real estate values and hand out mortgages that were never going to be paid.

Didn't know Iranians officially celebrate--they actually have it on the calendar!--but there are also massive protests today by the opposition. Ayatollah Montazeri actually claimed the hostage-taking was a "mistaken act"

Like you said last night, you won't hear shit about Hoffman losing. Or about the big wins for marijuana. I think that the voters in Maine overwhelmingly supported legalizing medical marijuana while at the same time rejecting gay marriage says that there are sweeping movements towards tolerance regarding marijuana. Breckenridge, CO straight-up decriminalized possession of up to 1oz of marijuana. It will be legal--or at the very least very decriminalized--in my lifetime.

My headline would be that "independents" withered come election day and apparently moved to Republicans.
