Republicans scared of Obama's healthcare offer

The Republicans complain about Obama not wanting their ideas, so he says 'fine, we'll hold a summit on television and incorporate your ideas that aren't already in the bill'. This, my friends, is called bipartisanship. But that isn't good enough for the Republicans. They're saying they won't attend, and the Democrats must scrap all the progress made so far and start over.

I think Obama has exposed for everyone to see the Republican tactics...delay delay delay until Democrats are in tough 2010 battles and won't pass anything at all. If this doesn't make the Republicans look like obstructionists, I don't know what does. Do they not realize that they are one of the smallest minorities in history for a reason? The American people rejected their ideas, governing style, and tactics in 2008.

If Republicans in Congress were serious about getting something done for the American people, they would work with the Democrats in whatever way possible. But they aren't. They're interesting in delaying long enough so the American people get frustrated enough to elect Republicans back into control.

Aargh. But why won't Democrats nail them and be prepared to nail them?

Obama and Democrats are lame with the "those under 55 to get screwed over" that the Republicans BELIEVE in. Because they really want to get rid of Social Security and Medicare. Bush wanted it in Social Security privatization and Paul Ryan sees it as a means to cut Medicare.

Last night I watched Ed Schultz with Sen. Barrasso (R-WY) and Schultz asks Barrasso about insurance for people with pre-existing conditions. Ed is just not prepared at all.

First off, Barrasso says 1.5 million Americans have preexisting conditions and then conflates that with a "high risk pool" in his state. I am assuming that Schultz thought Barrasso was saying 1.5 million with pre-existing in Wyoming because that is way, way too low for the entire country. But Barrasso meant the entire country because there are only 540,000 people in Wyoming.

Is Barrasso saying only 1.5 million people with pre-existing conditions don't currently have health insurance? Thats sophistry, too. People with pre-existing conditions and health insurance through their employer lose jobs every day.

On the high risk pool, Ed should have been prepared to nail him. These state high risk pools limit the number of people who can enroll. There are waiting lists. They are also often unaffordable because there's no subsidy.

It was Alice in Wonderland hearing Barrasso on Schultz - and getting away with it. There really is no healthcare problem. Its a delusion, a figment of your imagination.
