Is insurance itself, of any type, private or public, socialism?

Good point. Thats the whole idea of insurance: socialism.

80% of all insurance costs are caused by 20% of its users. That means that 80% of people are paying into something they don't, or rarely use, primarily to benefit the other 20%. That is the definition of socialism.
