Morning Whiskey - 02/04/2009 - Day 15

[EXECUTIVE PAY] - Obama is going to cap executive pay of bailed out companies at $500,000. This is largely symbolic, but still important to send the signal that if the tax payers had to step in because of executive actions, there has to be some accountability. If you think $500K is still too high, some of these guys make tens of millions of dollars each year.
[CORPORATE TAXES] - The Republicans proposed a very good idea yesterday....10% cut in the corporate tax rate for 1 year. On this, as well as on Geithner's comments, the market rallied despite bad economic data. All Wall Street wants is a plan at this point.
[OBAMA v. PELOSI] - Obama encouraged the 11 democrats who voted against the house bill last week. Obama doesn't like the house bill, and during a meeting with Democratic leadership, Obama sent out his staff so he could tell the Democratic leaders to get the nonsense out of the bill. The condoms. The hollywood nonsense. Nancy Pelosi screwed Obama on this because she is trying to assert her power. The White House is not happy with how the house Democrats loaded this bill up.
[EDWARDS] - Elizabeth Edwards is writing a book. Why? They're super rich, and don't need the money, so all she is doing is writing a book about her husband's infidelity. I don't understand it. I don't see a point other than she is attention starved.
[AFGHANISTAN] - Obama is going to surge troops in Afghanistan. Where is Code Pink now? Obama is going to put in an extra 20,000 or 30,000 troops. Here's my question....how come roadside bombs picked up in the province neighboring Iran? Tactics Iran imported from its war against us in Iraq?
[House v. Senate] - Is Obama trying to be too clever by half and play the House off the Senate? Let the House be irresponsible and pass 'Pelosi's stimulus' and then the Senate will pass something like what Obama envisioned.
[OBAMA v. RUSSIA] - Obama is embarking on the most 'ambitious talks in a generation' to reduce nuclear weapons between the countries.
[MISTAKES] - Obama, in interviews with all the networks yesterday, admits mistakes with the Daschle pick......On Daschle, Rush Limbaugh's fill in said 'I've got nothing the rest of the week'.
[CHENEY] - There are going to be more attacks and Obama's policies will help them succeed. Where are they going to come from, Dick? Oh, Afghanistan? The war you guys didn't finish?
[INDIA v. OBAMA] - India tells Obama to back off with regard to Kashmir
[RUSSIA] - My favorite story of the day....Russia's currency is collapsing and their spending all their oil money on propping it up
[BUY AMERICAN] - Obama backs down on the 'buy American' clause in the stimulus bill as Europe starts to chirp about it being anti-competitive. My question? Does Obama's vagina hurt?
