Obama doing VERY well in many Bush states

From Taegan Goddard's Political Wire:

According to recent polls, Sen. Barack Obama is doing extremely well in states that have voted Republican in recent presidential elections.

Montana: Bush won by 11 points in 2004, Obama leading McCain by 5 points
Colorado: Bush +4, Obama +5
Virginia: Bush +8, Obama +2
New Mexico: Bush +1, Obama +3
Florida: Bush +5, Obama +2
Indiana: Bush +20, Obama +1
Georgia: Bush +16, McCain +1
Mississippi: Bush +20, McCain +4
Alaska: Bush +26, McCain +4
North Carolina: Bush +13, McCain +4

Although Obama is still barely behind in a couple of these states (AK, MS, NC), check out others like Indiana and Georgia!! Obama is doing well in states where Bush won by 15+ points. I think Team McCain has noticed these numbers and therefore explains the recent 'shake-ups'.

I only hope Obama can stay ahead like this all the way until November. I think seeing a drastically new election map is going to be amazing.

Even if Obama ends up losing all of those states, the senate, governor, and house pickups will be huge.

yeah, I'm starting to think that maybe McCain should just give up now and save himself the embarassment of a good old-fashioned ass whooping. Or as dubya would say "a thumpin'".

Anyone still think McCain will get dumped for
someone else?

Although it seems plausible, I just really have a hard time believing they'd do something so out of the ordinary. Especially when all signs are pointing towards a defeat for Republicans, no matter who the candidate is. I mean, McCain is really the most 'maverick', 'independent' candidate they could have put up. I'm starting to think they just want to give him his go so that he will quit running.
