AHHH! So glad you posted this! I was trying to post, but me's a stupid hillpeople and thems internets movies confuse me.

Anyhoo, if you watch starting around 4:30 through the end---he just won my vote for VP. Although he comes off at first as being a bit socially awkward to me, he completely warmed me over by the end. I think this entire week has been an intentional interview and auditioning process and he seems to be winning everyone over. He just demands your attention!

His line about UNITING the 'hillpeople' and the African-American community is brilliant. And is, I think, an emerging theme of this primary. The choice of Webb as VP will bring it full circle come November and would make for an unstoppable ticket.

megan,

it was definitely odd, but then he's maybe the first serious White person who put it in terms like that. Black folk have known for forever that poor White folk have voted against their interests because of ' Whiteness', if you get what I mean. If he seriously presses this issue, awkward as it is, it would be furthering the conversation on race in a way that I never thought it would be talked about.

oh, I absolutely get what you're saying. An unprecedented (in my lifetime) discussion on race is more than welcome by me--and I can think of no better stewards to guide the discussion than Obama and Webb.

The awkwardness is in an overall sense. But, maybe it's just his serious demeanor--which is warmly diffused with his sly grin and little chuckle. I'm 110% sold on Obama/Webb '08 (**disclaimer: as of May 21, 2008**) But seriously, right now it looks pretty damn good.
