Lake County Turnout?

From the Indiana SOS website:

For the 2004 presidential election, there were 353k registered voters in Lake County Indiana and 193k of them voted in the presidential election.

How does that translate to tonight? I don't know. However, 60/40 split of 200k votes would net Obama 40,000 votes.

Update: As an example of how close this race will be, Lake County is the second largest county by population of registered voters, and it is reporting 0% at this point. At my last check, Obama was up 46,000 votes in Marion county (Indy) and he was only trailing Hillary by 42,000 votes overall.

Lake's turnout will be really, really interesting, especially if it is anything like Marion County. I just love that it pushes any speech by Hillary later and later into the night, if at all.

Update II: Uh... Oh... someone's within 38,000 votes.

there's still a pretty big chunk out in Tippecanoe county...I thought I had heard that this county could also be a big margin for Obama too?

I'd be surprised if he picked up more than 10,000 votes out of Lake (based on turnout of 120,000 and an 8% win). But margins matter, so the closer the better.

38,000 votes

I can't believe Obama conceded Indiana already. Let Hillary sweat.

always better to be magnanimous... it doesn't hurt him at all if he ends up winning... and he looks gracious in the mean time.

You might be right, Lars.

35,000 and still no Lake County.

LaPorte is country and white. There isn't much there. I would say Hillary country.

It's also on Chicago time and in the Chicago media market with regular commuter trains to Chicago that run every day, so who knows?

I think the best he can hope for in Laporte is to break even. But it might be more likely to net votes for Clinton.

hey, I think CNN has the best graphics/graphs/technology-stuffs. Except for the floating pie chart. That was bad.

Best info on election night finding the turnout for 2004. Bravo!! We have a friend who works for the Illinois legislature. They were all down today campaigning in Gary, and his sources say the mayor of Gary is just giddy at this point.

The Mayor of Gary is on CNN blaming it all on absentee ballots.
Doesn't really sound like the brightest guy...
